Wet Pour Surfacing

Safe, Durable Playground Surfaces for Schools & Nurseries

WLS designs and installs wet pour rubber surfacing that meets the highest safety standards — protecting children while creating vibrant, inspiring outdoor spaces.

What is Wet Pour Surfacing?

Wet pour rubber surfacing is a seamless, impact-absorbing playground surface made from recycled rubber granules bound together with a polyurethane binder. It is poured and trowelled in situ, creating a smooth, durable finish that can be laid in virtually any colour or design.

Used extensively in schools, nurseries, and public parks across the UK and Ireland, wet pour is the preferred choice for playground safety surfacing — combining excellent impact attenuation with low maintenance and a long service life.

Safety Standards & Compliance

Every WLS wet pour installation is designed and tested to comply with current UK and European playground safety standards.

EN1177 Compliant

All installations meet EN1177 — the European standard for impact-attenuating playground surfacing, specifying critical fall height requirements.

Critical Fall Height Rated

Wet pour depth is calculated to match the critical fall height of adjacent equipment, ensuring adequate protection for every piece of play equipment on site.

Slip Resistant

The textured rubber surface provides excellent slip resistance in wet and dry conditions, reducing the risk of slips and falls year-round.

Non-Toxic Materials

All materials used are non-toxic and safe for children. Our rubber granules and binders are tested and certified for use in children's play environments.

UV Stable Colours

Pigments are UV-stabilised to resist fading, maintaining vibrant colours and a professional appearance for years after installation.

Frost & Weather Resistant

Wet pour surfaces are designed to withstand the UK climate — resistant to frost, freeze-thaw cycles, and heavy rainfall without cracking or lifting.

Our Installation Process

From initial survey to handover, WLS manages every stage of your wet pour project.

01

Site Survey & Design

Our team visits your site to assess the area, measure dimensions, identify any drainage requirements, and discuss your design preferences — colours, zones, and any custom markings.

02

Quotation & Approval

We provide a detailed, itemised quotation covering materials, labour, and any groundworks required. No hidden costs — everything is agreed upfront before work begins.

03

Surface Preparation

Existing surfaces are assessed and prepared. Where required, we install a suitable sub-base to ensure correct drainage and a stable foundation for the wet pour layers.

04

Wet Pour Installation

Our experienced installation teams lay the base rubber layer followed by the coloured wearing course, trowelling to a smooth, seamless finish. Markings and designs are incorporated at this stage.

05

Curing & Inspection

The surface is allowed to cure fully before a thorough inspection is carried out. We check for consistency, correct depth, and surface finish before signing off.

06

Handover & Aftercare

We hand over the completed surface with full documentation, including material certificates and compliance records. Aftercare guidance is provided to help you maintain the surface long-term.
